Mamas to Know: Dara's Breastfeeding Journey

Mamas To Know: Dara’s Breastfeeding Journey.

At Piper Marie we believe the best way to help other moms is to tell our stories. I know personally I have learned way more about breastfeeding through other moms’ stories than anywhere else. So I thought this would be a great avenue to do just that.

Dara’s breastfeeding journey sounds like a lot of mom’s stories. Most moms will run into an issue or two. It’s knowing your way around the issues that gets you to seven months! Here is Dara’s Pacifier story!

How many kids do you have?

One

Did you breastfeed?

7 months still going strong!

Why did you choose to breastfeed?

It was the best choice for my son and our family.

Did you grow up around breastfeeding?

No, I did not.

Did you have support from family and friends?

Yes, I do.

Did you have to pump? Did you end up exclusively pumping?

Yes, over supply. He is exclusively breastfed so I donate.

Did you face any challenges, if so please explain?

I had mastitis which landed me three trips to the ER. Plus I have flat nipples causing us to use a shield for 3 months until he self‐weaned.

Anything else to know about your breastfeeding journey?

It has been an amazing journey and I can’t wait to do it with the next baby.

Did your breastfeeding journey come to an end? Why and how?

Still nursing.

One thing you wish you knew before you started breastfeeding?

About mastitis.

Do you have any advice for first time moms?

Watch for clogged ducts, hard spots, etc.

Are you ready to tell your story? Our hope is to have all moms do a Mamas to know interview. Whether you breastfeed exclusively, supplemented, or had another journey altogether. We want to share it for others to learn from. We would love love love to hear it and share it. Maybe you have dealt with something another mom is struggling with, you can help her. Click here to take our interview. The time it takes depends on your story.
